Tenant object. Identifies the tenant to which a managed device, service instance or credential belongs in a multi-tenant deployment, and provides the dimension for quota, isolation and audit.
Scope note: This node defines the tenant identity object itself, while 1.3.6.1.4.1.59719.3.800 is the system service that manages tenants; if a tenant identity has to be carried inside a certificate, register the attribute type under 1.3.6.1.4.1.59719.5.4 and reference this node instead of redefining the semantics.
Status: registered but unused. Not yet referenced by any product, deployment or certificate profile; when implemented, keep tenant identifiers opaque and stable for their whole lifetime. The unused state shall be re-verified at each revision of this file.
Recommendation: Never derive a tenant identifier from a tenant name or from a contract number, because both change during the commercial lifecycle while the identifier embedded in issued certificates and log records cannot be changed cheaply.
