Version 1 of the Domain Validated (DV) Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate policy. Defines the baseline rules for DV certificates whose validity period does not exceed 90 days and whose validation method is limited to Domain Name System (DNS) or file-based domain control validation.
Status: registered but unused. No certificate has been issued under this policy version; when activated, document the allowed validation methods and the revalidation interval in the CPS. The unused state shall be re-verified at each revision of this file.
Recommendation: a short validity period is only safe when renewal is fully automated; verify the renewal path before enabling this policy version in production.
